As Latter-day Saint moms, no one needs to tell us that babies are intelligent. We know that babies are smart! Their spirits are eons old, and they come to earth, “not in entire forgetfullness” as Wordsworth penned in these immortal words that are probably the most often quoted lines (that aren’t scripture) in General Conference:
Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
The Soul that rises with us, our life’s Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting,
And cometh from afar:
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home:
Heaven lies about us in our infancy!
I am excited about this new documentary that shows how smart babies are and how they eagerly want to connect with us by using body language and vocalizations. Starting at birth, a human being’s number one job is to connect. Our LDS religion confirms the value of connectedness by providing us with sacred ordinances that allow this parent-child connectedness to last forever.
Today through March 1, you can watch this documentary, The Connected Baby, as a live streaming event here, http://mothering.com/all-things-mothering/mothering/the-connected-baby-a-film-conversation-an-exclusive-streaming-event
Watch it and tell me what you think! I am going to watch/listen today while I put groceries away.
