Relative Race is the best show ever because it brings the spirit of Elijah into one’s heart. President Russell M. Nelson said that the Spirit of Elijah is “a manifestation of the Holy Ghost bearing witness of the divine nature of the family.” (Read the talk here, watch below.)

So what does the show feature that brings the Spirit of Elijah/Holy Ghost into one’s heart? It brings together family members who have never met before, ever. These are usually people who were adopted at birth or a young age and their biological parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. That moment, especially if it’s a adult meeting his or her biological parent for the first time, is so electric. I tear up sometimes as I imagine how wonderful it must feel to finally meet your parent, after decades of wondering and searching. Or to suddenly find out you have a sister or a brother that you always longed. It’s just so marvelous to think about this and witness the real life joy of such discoveries.

The show is full of laughs, heartwarming moments, fights, and tears. It’s reality and it’s raw, just like families are. I highly recommend for watching anytime, and especially on Sunday.
