A wonderful way to celebrate America 250 is to use these resources over here from Dawn Duran of The Discerning Home Educator Substack. These are especially suited for Morning Time in a homeschool day. But you don’t have to be a homeschooler to enjoy them.
Since January 2026, Dawn has shared a new collection of resources each month. Don’t dismay about starting now and being behind, just start with today’s month and move forward, and then next year loop back to what she shared in January.
Every month Dawn shares some resources from each of the following categories:
America in Paint

America in Song
Poems that Celebrate America
Celebrating America’s Military
America’s Folk Heroes and Legends
Uniquely American Holidays– holidays for that month.
American History Parade– dates of things that happened that month in American history.
Use these ideas for your Morning Basket time. You could get picture books about the people and songs mentioned, listen to the songs in YouTube, do the picture studies ala Charlotte Mason style, memorize the poetry, and talk about what happened on that day.
