She Searched for the True Church of Jesus Christ for 14 Years and Found It!: Lalona’s Story

I listened to this story yesterday as I prepped Sunday dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is about Lalona, a woman who from a young age thirsted for truth about God and religion. She said she grew up in rural Kentucky with a church every three blocks. From age 10, she read the Bible and kept a journal full of questions about what she read. Her quest for religious truth continued as she explored every church she could find.

After growing up, she was living in Arizona and working a job as a single young woman. She says that she met some some young men at BYU for some interviews she was doing for her job in AZ. Then, after those interviews, she met a young woman on a shuttle bus from BYU to the airport in UT. Amazed by what she discovered after talking to these young people, she says that they knew more about what they believe as Christians than any preacher she knew from when she was growing up.

It is so fascinating how God put people in her path to help her answer the questions she had had since she was a young girl, age 10. She got these questions from reading the Bible. These are questions like:

“What is this mention in the Bible about teaching in the spirit world?”

“What is baptism?”

“Where are the prophets on the earth today like there were in the Bible?

Watch below. Her enthusiasm for the gospel of Jesus Christ as restored by Joseph Smith and explained in the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ is contagious! She is on fire!

As a fired up Christian, she recommends doing this every day: read from the Book of Mormon daily and the words of the living prophets.

She does a similar thing I do for her scripture study: she reads from the Book of Mormon after praying in the morning, asking what the Lord wants her to know and do for that day. Then she goes running and ponders the scriptures and what the Lord wants her to know and do for the day. (I don’t go running, I go walking.) Towards the end of the video, she shares the story of one morning when she did that. She thought of a friend during her morning scripture study and was told by the Holy Spirit to check on her. So she texted the friend, saying, “Hey, I was just thinking about you, how are you doing?” Then the friend replied that she had been just been in an accident. Her friend was so grateful that Lalonna reached out to her.

Lalonna closes her interview by saying, “I testify that He (the Lord) will guide you and direct you when you are reading the Book of Mormon every day and praying with real intent to align your will with His.” I agree with her. It’s true! I have done this myself. Test it out for yourself and you will experience joy.
